History of Turkey

   The course of Turkey's history has been good and bad. First off the people who live there are called the Turks. The Turks first lived in Central Asia around 2000 BC. A few Turks later spread out and established empires. A few of these great empires are the Great Hun Empire(established during the 3rd Century B.C.), the Uygur Empire (741-840), the Avar Empire( 6-9 Century A.D.), and many more. Later on Turks started to settle in Anatolia in the early 11th Century. There was a battle between the Malazgirt and the Byzantines which allowed the Turks into Anatolia. The Turks began to take over Anatolia and they established their first Turkish state the Anatolian Seljuk State(1080-1308) The Turks later experienced a little trouble when the Mongol invasion started around 1243. During the decline of the Seljuk State till it's end many Turcoman principalities were established in Anatolia towards the end of the 13th Century. Throughout the 14th Century the Ottoman Beylik started to take over and thus rose the Ottoman Empire. This empire lasted for over 623 years til the end of the first World War. Starting in the beginning of the 16th Century the Ottoman empire began to fall because it's economy started to drop immensely. It continued to drop but they also fought along side of the allied powers. Later there was a war called the Turkish National Liberation War to create a new state and the war worked.The Republic of Turkey was proclaimed on October 29, 1923.
